The event, which took place at Topsoil restaurant in Travelers Rest, celebrated indigenous foods of the area – corn, beans and squash, said Adams, Furman Farm manager. The dinner also raised funds for Community Conservation Corps, a volunteer organization at Furman that collaborates with Habitat for Humanity to weatherize homes in the Upstate to increase energy efficiency and reduce utility bills for lower-income residents. Funds from the event will also go toward relief efforts in the wake of Tropical Storm Helene.

A variety of organically raised foods, including familiar veggies and lesser-known ones, made an appearance on set. Produce from the .25-acre Furman Farm managed by Adams with the help of Furman students was featured in the five-course Three Sisters Dinner. Predmore, executive director of The Shi Institute, said the dinner offered a way to communicate the core mission of The Shi Institute, which is to inform students and the community about regenerative food systems and their health benefits.

FOX Carolina’s “Access Carolina” invites The Shi Institute’s Andrew Predmore and Bruce Adams to the studio to talk about the Three Sisters fundraising dinner starring organically raised produce from the Furman Farm.

[17,1569,6,18,9
3115,3116,285,3117
post-35036","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-centers-and-institutes","category-fox-carolina","category-in-the-news","category-shi-institute-for-sustainable-communities","category-sustainability","tag-community-conservation-corps","tag-habitat-for-humanity","tag-organic-farming","tag-regenerative-food-systems
["GET
