{"id":34874,"date":"2024-10-28T08:36:36","date_gmt":"2024-10-28T12:36:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.furman.edu\/news\/?p=34874"},"modified":"2024-10-28T09:30:49","modified_gmt":"2024-10-28T13:30:49","slug":"board-raises-clearly-furman-campaign-goal-to-476-million","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.furman.edu\/news\/board-raises-clearly-furman-campaign-goal-to-476-million\/","title":{"rendered":"Board raises Clearly Furman campaign goal to $476 million"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Furman University Board of Trustees on Saturday approved raising the goal for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.furman.edu\/clearly-furman\/\">Clearly Furman, the Campaign for Our Third Century<\/a>, from $426 million to $476 million. The campaign has already raised $415 million, putting it on track to reach its original goal well before its planned finish in 2026.<\/p>\n<p>During the final 20 months of the campaign, Furman will focus on raising money for scholarships as it works toward meeting full financial need for all students, a critical need and the university\u2019s biggest challenge with the greatest potential to impact access. Meeting student financial need and boosting fundraising, including completing and exceeding the goal for the Clearly Furman campaign, are key initiatives in Furman\u2019s strategic plan, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.furman.edu\/strategic-plan\">FUture Focused<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a great testament to the dedication and generosity of alumni, parents and friends that we were set to reach an already ambitious goal more than a year and half early and are now able to reach even higher,\u201d Furman President Elizabeth Davis said. \u201cI am grateful for everyone\u2019s generous support of and confidence in our faculty and staff and our mission to graduate students who go on to have meaningful and successful lives and a positive impact in their communities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In addition, trustees approved increasing the campaign\u2019s goal of 22,500 donors to 24,600. Through this week, more than 23,700 individuals had given to the campaign. Photo by Owen Withycombe, Furman University.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The board also celebrated Heidi Hansen McCrory, who is retiring Nov. 1 after serving as Furman\u2019s vice president for Development since 2018. She will be honored with a retirement party on campus on Oct. 30.<\/p>\n<p>McCrory has had many successes during her tenure, such as doubling fundraising and piloting Clearly Furman to its meteoric success.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHeidi wove herself into the fabric of the Furman community as someone who cares and wants the very best for the university, creating a culture of philanthropy that will long endure,\u201d Davis said. \u201cShe has been an outstanding partner and will be truly missed for her fundraising leadership, her sense of humor and her endless optimism.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Shon Herrick, associate vice president for Development, will serve as the interim vice president for the remainder of the campaign, beginning Nov. 1. Furman will conduct a national search during the last year of the campaign with the goal of announcing a new vice president following its conclusion.<\/p>\n<p>Clearly Furman <a href=\"https:\/\/www.furman.edu\/news\/clearly-furman-campaign-launches-with-goal-of-426-million-by-2026\/\">launched publicly in April 2023<\/a> as the university\u2019s largest and most ambitious campaign to date.
