That means 64% of student-athletes earned a GPA of 3.0 or higher.<\/p>\n<p>The past school year brought plenty of other reasons to celebrate the Paladins:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Ryan Adams \u201920<\/strong>, men\u2019s cross-country,\u00a0<strong>Savannah Carnahan \u201920<\/strong>, women\u2019s indoor track (Most Outstanding Indoor Track Performer) and\u00a0<strong>Natalie Srinivasan \u201920<\/strong>, women\u2019s golf, were named Southern Conference Players of the Year.<\/li>\n<li>Men\u2019s head soccer coach Doug Allison and Robert Gary, head coach of men\u2019s and of women\u2019s cross-country, were selected as Southern Conference Coach of the Year. Gary also served as head men\u2019s coach for\u00a0Team USA at the 2019 IAAF World Championship in the fall of 2019 in Doha, Qatar.<\/li>\n<li>14 Furman sports topped the national average NCAA Academic Progress Rate, which measures eligibility, graduation and retention (997 athletics overall score out of 1,000). Five Furman sports earned NCAA APR Public Recognition Awards for perfect APR score of 1,000: men\u2019s basketball, men\u2019s cross-country, men\u2019s track &amp; field, men\u2019s tennis and softball.<\/li>\n<li>Furman\u2019s 408 student-athletes registered a grade-point average of 3.35. Half (204) of Furman\u2019s student-athletes earned dean\u2019s list honors, while 50 student-athletes earned perfect 4.0 GPAs.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Finished 1st\u00a0in SoCon Men\u2019s All Sports Competition (when season ended) and 2nd\u00a0in SoCon Women\u2019s All Sports Competition (when season ended).<\/li>\n<li>4 Southern Conference Championships.<\/li>\n<li>6 NCAA Tournament Post-Season Qualifiers.<\/li>\n<li>9 All-Americans and 1 Mid-Major All American.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Meet our 2020 Southern Conference Players of the Year<\/h2>\n<h4>RYAN ADAMS<\/h4>\n<h4>NATALIE SRINIVASAN<\/h4>\n<h4>SAVANNAH CARNAHAN<\/h4>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Setting a program record, 281 student-athletes were named to the 2019-20 Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll.
