Ten college rugby teams will take part in the inaugural Southern Rugby Conference Tournament Saturday and Sunday at Furman.<\/p>\n
Games will be held 9 a.m.- 5 p.m., Saturday and 9 a.m.-2 p.m., Sunday. The contests will be held on John S. Roberts Field and a football practice field. Admission is free.<\/p>\n
Furman, which completed the fall season with a 5-2 record and finished second in the 10-state South Region last spring, enters the tournament as a top seed with Appalachian State, a traditional rugby power.<\/p>\n
The Southern Rugby Conference was formed last fall under a college restructuring initiative launched by USA Rugby. The Division II conference includes Furman, Lander, Duke, the Citadel, Elon, UNC-Wilmington, UNC-Charlotte, Appalachian State, UNC-Greensboro,\u00a0College of Charleston, Guilford and Coastal Carolina.<\/p>\n
The conference tournament, to be held each January, launches the spring season.<\/p>\n
