Adams manages the Furman Farm at The Shi Institute for Sustainable Communities. He said that while options for composting in the Upstate are limited, homeowners who have enough space, about 3&#8242; x 4&#8242;, and who use the right recipe of carbon, nitrogen, water and air, can turn yard and food waste into healthy natural fertilizer in about 30-60 days.
