Thompson Gallery hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m.-noon, Saturday, Oct. 25. A reception will be held Friday, Oct. 24, 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. featuring a gallery talk with the artist at 7 p.m.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">The origami and paper sculpture exhibition<i>, Intersections: The Art and Science of Folded Paper<\/i>, is free and open to the public, and is presented by the Furman Department of Art.<\/p>\n<p align=\"left\">In her statement, Gieseking says origami represents a synthesis of her two interests: the scientific and logical in harmony with the artistic and creative. \u201cI apply logic and math to engineer new ways of transforming flat paper into three-dimensional forms, continually pushing the boundaries of what is possible.
