Guth &#8217;01 has received an award for her book &#8220;The Ethics of Tainted Legacies: Human Flourishing after Traumatic Pasts&#8221; from the <a href=\"https:\/\/aarweb.org\/AARMBR\/AARMBR\/Publications-and-News-\/Newsroom-\/News-\/2024\/2023-AAR-Book-Awards.aspx\">American Academy of Religion<\/a>. Published by Cambridge University Press, the book received the Award for Excellence in the Study of Religion: Constructive-Reflective Studies. It explores beloved American institutions and traditions and how people respond when those fixtures are marred by scandal, corruption, violence and other ethical challenges. Guth, an associate professor of religious studies at Holy Cross, &#8220;presents clear and concrete options for how we can acknowledge our pasts, respond to the present and transform our futures,&#8221; according to the 2023 AAR book awards jury.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In her book, 2001 Furman alumna Karen V.
