And we love to have them on stage sometimes just to mess with them.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The troupe might start with a high-energy improv game like \u201cShould Have Said; Make It Bigger,\u201d in which a host standing at the side repeatedly interrupts a scene in progress by prompting the players to immediately revise their last line of dialogue and amplify the action. Or \u201cLate for Work,\u201d which challenges a performer to improvise an excuse for tardiness based on mimed cues from other players.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">With everything being made up on the fly, improv shows can often seem freewheeling and anarchic. But behind the comedic performances are a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2022\/10\/19\/1129907651\/improv-can-build-confidence-heres-how-to-apply-it-to-your-everyday-life\">set of rules<\/a> that the members of Improvable Cause take very seriously, Denham said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cThe rule of \u2018Yes, and\u2026\u2019 is obviously one of the most important,\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s a very simple process of adding on to a joke. You say, \u2018Yes, that is real in the scene.
