{"id":2869,"date":"2014-04-29T14:23:39","date_gmt":"2014-04-29T18:23:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.furman.edu\/news\/2014\/04\/29\/partners-for-success\/"},"modified":"2022-11-07T18:00:36","modified_gmt":"2022-11-07T23:00:36","slug":"partners-for-success","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.furman.edu\/news\/partners-for-success\/","title":{"rendered":"Getting down to business"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Furman University students pursuing managerial careers will have a new option for graduate school under a partnership established recently with the Wake Forest University School of Business.<\/p>\n<p>The Wake Forest-Furman Honors Program will provide Furman students who meet specific criteria with guaranteed admission to the Master of Arts in Management program at Wake Forest\u2019s School of Business, along with up to $20,000 in scholarship monies.<\/p>\n<p>The program is the first agreement of its kind at Furman, said Dr. John Barker, Furman\u2019s Director of Career Services.<\/p>\n<p>Furman graduates applying to Wake Forest\u2019s innovative M.A. in Management program will enjoy a streamlined application process and additional scholarships based on their demonstrated leadership ability, internships, extra-curricular activities and other evidence indicative of academic success. The program is specifically designed for graduates with science, humanities, and liberal arts majors.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis alliance is another example of the reputation that Furman has among top graduate programs,\u201d Barker said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFurman alumni have distinguished themselves at Wake Forest both academically and as leaders of character, and continue to well represent both our institutions as young business professionals,\u201d said Derrick Boone, Associate Dean of the M.A. in Management program at Wake Forest.\u00a0 \u201cOur goal is to seamlessly integrate the outstanding liberal arts undergraduate education provided by Furman with the equally outstanding graduate business education provided by Wake Forest.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Wake Forest is a private, coeducational university located in Winston-Salem, N.C.\u00a0 In addition to its undergraduate enrollment of approximately 4,800 students, another 2,600 students attend the university\u2019s graduate and professional schools.<\/p>\n<p>For more information, contact Furman\u2019s Office of Career Services at 864-294-2106.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Furman University students pursuing managerial careers will have a new option for graduate school under a partnership established recently with the Wake Forest University School of Business.
