Malici, a professor of politics and international affairs, said the Palestinian Liberation Organization agreed to a peace deal with Israel in 1988 in exchange for an independent Palestinian state. 1993 brought the Oslo Accords, an effort to set up an interim government for independent Palestinian territories.<\/p>\n
