{"id":2582,"date":"2016-02-10T19:53:53","date_gmt":"2016-02-11T00:53:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.furman.edu\/news\/2016\/02\/10\/knouse-receives-honor-publishes-article\/"},"modified":"2022-11-07T14:40:11","modified_gmt":"2022-11-07T19:40:11","slug":"knouse-receives-honor-publishes-article","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.furman.edu\/news\/knouse-receives-honor-publishes-article\/","title":{"rendered":"Knouse receives honor, publishes article"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Furman Modern Languages and Literatures professor Stephanie Knouse has received recognition from the United Way of Greenville County, and has published an article in <em>Foreign Language Annals<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>In a recent awards ceremony and dinner sponsored by the United Way of Greenville County, Knouse was named a \u201cMentor of the Year Honoree.\u201d Of the four finalists, one received the Mentor of the Year award. Knouse was one of about a dozen honorees, most of those representing national and international industries. Only a few of the nominees were connected to the field of education.<\/p>\n<p>Knouse\u2019s work has been published in the latest issue (45 (4): 512-542) of <em>Foreign Language Annals<\/em>, the research journal of the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages. Her article, \u201cThe Acquisition of Dialectal Phonemes in a Study-Abroad Context: The Case of the Castilian Theta,\u201d underwent three levels of rigorous review before appearing in the peer-reviewed journal.<\/p>\n<p>An assistant Spanish professor, Knouse joined Furman in 2009. Her academic interests are Spanish sociolinguistics, language variation and change, technology in foreign language education, foreign language pedagogy, and second language acquisition.
