Emily Schuck has been named vice president for enrollment management at Furman University following a national search, Furman President Elizabeth Davis announced today, Feb. 20.<\/p>\n
Schuck (pronounced \u201cshook\u201d), who is currently the assistant vice president for enrollment management at Marietta College in Marietta, Ohio, will begin her duties at Furman on June 1. As a member of the senior administrative team at Furman, she will lead the university\u2019s enrollment management strategy, which includes overseeing admissions, financial aid and enrollment services.<\/p>\n
Over a 22-year career in higher education, Schuck has managed every aspect of enrollment management, innovating data-driven approaches to recruitment and financial aid. She has also lectured and written on topics of leadership.<\/p>\n
\u201cEmily is a very creative, savvy and forward-thinking professional,\u201d Davis said. \u201cShe understands the liberal arts and sciences mission and will position Furman well in the competitive and ever-evolving realm of enrollment management. Schuck joined Marietta College as director of student financial services in 2013 and became assistant vice president for enrollment management in 2016. From 2001 to 2013, she worked as assistant director of admissions and director of financial aid and government relations at Washington State Community College in Marietta, Ohio.<\/p>\n
Schuck has a bachelor\u2019s and a master\u2019s degree from Marietta College and is a doctoral candidate in higher education leadership at Concordia University in Chicago with an expected graduation this fall. She and her husband Brian have three children: Kennedy, 22, Courtney, 19, and Addison, 13.<\/p>\n
Despite a national decline in enrollment, Furman continues to be competitive in student recruitment. More than 8,000 high schoolers applied this winter to be in the class of 2027. Furman is ranked 45th<\/a> among all national liberal arts universities, and is the fourth \u201cMost Innovative School,\u201d according to U.S. News and World Report.
