Too, a handful of new players who joined the team in the spring and showed great promise will return.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We normally open the season with a Division II team. But with our returning experience and growing depth, we will be able to manage playing up this year,&#8221; said Coach John Roberts. &#8220;It is always good to take an away trip your first game. It really helps folds your newer players into the program.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The Paladins last played Georgia in 2008, a loss, and Georgia Tech in 2012, a win.<\/p>\n<p>League play launches September 20 as Furman travels to face the their longtime rival, The Citadel. The squad&#8217;s home opener is September 27 against the College of Charleston. In other league games, Furman plays at Lander (October 4), hosts UNC-Wilmington (October 18) and travels to Coastal Carolina (November 1).<\/p>\n<p>On October 25, Homecoming, the team will host the Furman Rugby Olde Guys (FROGs) in annual alumni game.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Furman will be looking to build on a solid 2013-14 season when it opens the fall 15s campaign September 6 in a round-robin at the University of Georgia.
