\"David<\/a>Rev. David T. Link, Dean Emeritus and Professor of the Notre Dame Law School, and President Emeritus of the University of Notre Dame Australia, will speak Thursday, April 24 at 7 p.m. in Daniel Memorial Chapel on the Furman University campus.<\/p>\n

His talk, \u201cServing the Least, the Lost, and the Lonely,\u201d is free and open to the public. Rev. Link\u2019s presentation is this year\u2019s Hesburgh lecture, which is sponsored by Furman\u2019s Office of the Chaplain, the Notre Dame Club of the Western Carolinas, and Furman University\u2019s Catholic Campus Ministry. The event is part of Furman’s Cultural Life Program.<\/p>\n

While serving as dean of the Notre Dame Law School, Rev. Link co-founded the South Bend (Ind.) Center for the Homeless, a nationally recognized program in its 24th year of operation, which has served more than 55,000 men, women, and children by linking them with the programs, agencies, and people who can help them break the cycle of homelessness.<\/p>\n

Husband for 45 years to the late Barbara Link, David Link is father of five children and grandfather of 14. Upon his wife\u2019s passing, Link became a Catholic priest at the age of 71 and spends his retirement years ministering to inmates of a maximum security prison in Indiana.<\/p>\n

Rev. Link\u2019s unusual story is chronicled in a book published by Random House in 2013 titled Camerado, I Give You My Hand: How a Powerful Lawyer-Turned-Priest is Changing the Lives of Men Behind Bars<\/i>.<\/p>\n

Rev. Link serves on the boards of Dismas House, the Miracle of Nazareth Foundation, Skyline Corporation, and World Dignity, Inc.\u00a0 He is a teacher and scholar in the fields of Professional Ethics, University Administration, Rights of the Disadvantaged, International Taxation, and Computers and the Law.<\/p>\n

Established 26 years ago, the Hesburgh Lecture Series aims to encourage intellectual dialogue between alumni, community members, and the distinguished faculty of Furman\u2019s sister university, Notre Dame. Each year, Notre Dame Faculty Members deliver more than 200 presentations around the world. The series is named for Rev. Theodore Hesburgh, C.S.C., President Emeritus of the University of Notre Dame.<\/p>\n
