International Education Week launched in style at Furman on Nov. 15 with an International Student Fashion Show CLP event in McAlister Auditorium, presented by the Furman University International Students Association.<\/p>\n
The event was an opportunity to celebrate global diversity on campus and learn what attire conveys about people, cultures and communities around the world \u2013 and for students to represent their communities and traditions by sharing the history, meaning and importance of their apparel.<\/p>\n
A keynote talk from Kaniqua Robinson, an assistant professor of anthropology, helped the audience reflect on what they were about to see and hear, which included not only fashion but also international music. Alex Akulli, Furman\u2019s associate director of international student engagement, moderated a Q&A session.<\/p>\n
Other events FUISA presented during International Education Week included a Dins Dialogue co-presented with Furman\u2019s Center for Inclusive Communities<\/a>, an international coffee sampling, an Afro Night Out hosted by the Afrikiya student group and an exhibition of Cuban art featuring music from a live mariachi trio.<\/p>\nGALLERY: 2022 FUISA STUDENT FASHION SHOW<\/h3>\n
