Furman freshman Kevin Edens of Marietta serves as chorale accompanist.<\/p>\n<p>The Women\u2019s Chorale will sing folksongs based on a Tolkien text, an old Scottish lullaby, and a Japanese children\u2019s poem. The Men\u2019s Chorale will sing Irish folksongs including two sea shanties, and the beautiful ballad, &#8220;Danny Boy.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The combined Men\u2019s and Women\u2019s Chorales will sing a variety of secular and sacred music. The program includes Renaissance madrigals, an English love song based on a Robert Burns poem, a popular Spanish song from Venezuela, and the American songs &#8220;Simple Gifts&#8221; and &#8220;Fields of Gold.&#8221; Also featured are two pieces from the Gospel tradition performed by student soloists Alex Mason (Easley), and Jen Wiggins (Greenville).<\/p>\n<p>For more information about the concert, contact the Furman University Music Department at 864-294-2086.<\/p>\n<p><b><i>About Dr. Vivian Hamilton<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<p>Dr. Hamilton is conductor of the Furman Chorales and serves as collaborative pianist. An accomplished pianist as well as vocalist and conductor, Hamilton imparts a wealth of musical expertise to her students. In addition to her work at Furman, she is minister of music at First Baptist Church, Greenville, and holds the position of principal keyboard artist with the Greenville Symphony Orchestra.
