\"Brett<\/a>New York Times #1 best-selling and beloved author\/artist Jan Brett will visit the Upcountry History Museum-Furman University Wednesday, April 2 at 6 p.m.<\/p>\n

With more than 39 million books in print, Brett is one of America\u2019s most prolific children\u2019s book authors. Promoting her latest book, Cinders: A Chicken Cinderella, <\/i>Brett will present a drawing demonstration at 6 p.m. followed by a book signing at 6:30 p.m.<\/p>\n

Brett\u2019s visit is open to the public. The cost of admission to the drawing demonstration is the purchase of Cinders: A Chicken Cinderella<\/i> from the Museum Shop at $17.99 (G.P. Putnam\u2019s Sons, hardcover, 32 pages). The purchase allows admission of two individuals for the demonstration. Individuals who attend the demonstration are among the first in line for the book signing.<\/p>\n

Admission to the book signing is the purchase of any Brett book from the Museum Shop. The purchase of one book from the shop grants access for an entire family to the signing.<\/p>\n

Inspired by her travels to Russia and Brett\u2019s own flock of award-winning chickens, Cinders: A Chicken Cinderella <\/i>is the tale of one magical night when Cinders, the most picked upon hen in the flock, becomes the belle of Prince Cockerel\u2019s ball. Cinders is so transformed by her Silkie godmother that even her bossy sisters do not recognize her.<\/p>\n

Brett is famous for taking extensive research trips to all corners of the globe for her work which spans more than 30 years. The influences of her close study of palaces, dachas, museums, St. Petersburg, and the famous wooden structures of Novgorod find their way into Cinders<\/i>, where Brett depicts 18th\u00a0century Russian ball gowns, gold-trimmed uniforms, and striking historic architecture.<\/p>\n

Pre-order and pick up of books for the demonstration and\/or the signing is strongly encouraged. Museum members receive first option to order books through March 15. Non-member sales begin March 16.<\/p>\n
