The team moved the ball very well and dominated set pieces.<\/p>\n<p>In the second contest Furman was frustrated by Coastal Carolina, dropping a 5-3 decision. Furman missed one makeable penalty kick and squandered several scoring opportunities while the Chanticleers took advantage of their foray into Furman territory.<\/p>\n<p>The pace of the contest, filled with scrums and penalties, prevented the Paladins from finding any offensive rhythm.<\/p>\n<p>In the final contest, the Paladins roared out to 17-0 lead over the Citadel but surrendered two late trys to the feisty cadets for 17-10 final.<\/p>\n<p>All the games consisted of a single 30-minute half.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is hard to make any adjustments or find any rhythm in this kind of format,\u201d said Furman Coach John Roberts. \u201cOur main goal this weekend to was to get our new players a taste of the game. We played well, particularly in our off-loading, in\u00a0 parts of the Charleston and Citadel games.
