Thatamanil<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Theologian and religion scholar John J. Thatamanil will visit Furman University Thursday,\u00a0Feb. 27 to deliver\u00a0the Kendrick-Poerschke\u00a0lecture on \u201cRethinking Religious Diversity: Comparison After \u2018Religion\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The lecture, which is free and open to the public, begins at 7 p.m. in Charles E. Daniel Chapel.\u00a0 The event is sponsored by the Religion Department at Furman.<\/p>\n<p>Thatamanil will discuss the importance of integrating multiple religious wisdom into our personal lives and public vocations, as well as learning not just about but from the faith of our neighbors.<\/p>\n<p>Thatamanil is Associate Professor of Theology and World Religions at Union Theological Seminary in New York City. He teaches in the areas of comparative theology, theologies of religious pluralism, Hindu-Christian dialogue, Buddhist-Christian dialogue, the theology of Paul Tillich, process theology, and Eastern Orthodox theology and spirituality.<\/p>\n<p>Author of\u00a0<em>The\u00a0Immanent Divine: God, Creation, and the Human\u00a0Predicament<\/em>, Thatamanil is chair of the American Academy of Religion&#8217;s Theological Education\u00a0Steering Committee and\u00a0a past president of the North American Paul Tillich Society.<\/p>\n<p>For more information, contact Furman&#8217;s Religion Department at 864-294-2162.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Theologian and religion scholar John J.
