Rev. Deb Richardson-Moore<\/p><\/div>\n

The Rev. Deb Richardson-Moore, pastor and director of the Triune Mercy Center in Greenville, will deliver the Peggy and Ed Good Lecture at Furman University Thursday, Feb. 27 at 7 p.m. in Hartness Pavilion.<\/p>\n

Her talk, \u201cOur Triune God: Closer Than You Might Think,\u201d is free and open to the public.\u00a0 It is presented by the Cothran Center for Vocational Reflection at Furman.<\/p>\n

Richardson-Moore has been pastor and director of the non-denominational Triune Mercy Center for eight years. She is a Greenville native and a graduate of Wade Hampton High, Wake Forest University and Erskine Theological Seminary.<\/p>\n

Before becoming a pastor, she worked for 27 years as a writer for The Greenville News<\/i>, covering art, theater, general features and religion. She is author of a memoir, The Weight of Mercy<\/i>, about her first three years at Triune.<\/p>\n

Triune is a church that brings homeless, working poor and middle-class parishioners into community. In addition to serving three hot meals a week with help from 60 area churches, Triune distributes groceries and offers laundry services. \u00a0It also helps parishioners enter drug treatment, and then assists them in gaining employment and housing.<\/p>\n

Triune hosts 13 weekly Narcotics Anonymous and Alcoholics Anonymous and Celebrate Recovery meetings, a Survivors of Sexual Abuse support group, Bible studies, Back Yard Mission Days for visitors, and art, music, drama and gardening opportunities.<\/p>\n

Bon Secours St. Francis Health System has placed a nurse and social worker at Triune, and there are two mental health counselors on staff. \u00a0There are three volunteer lawyers, and a volunteer ophthalmologist who does eye screenings. The church also partners with Homes of Hope to provide some low-cost housing.<\/p>\n
