A collaboration among Furman and Clemson University professors, the institute aims to uncover lost or marginalized histories to shore up the &#8220;Black Archive&#8221; in the state by enlisting the help of artists, community activists and others outside academia, according to coverage in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.postandcourier.com\/education-lab\/clemson-furman-universities-partner-to-create-sc-black-archive\/article_77033610-2a0d-11ed-a550-333e9398bd6d.html?utm_campaign=blox&amp;utm_source=twitter&amp;utm_medium=social#newsletter-popup\">The Post and Courier<\/a>. \u201cWe can\u2019t smoke a pipe and sit in a tweed jacket in a library and get to the story,\u201d Hecimovich said. News of the institute also appeared in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.diverseeducation.com\/faculty-staff\/article\/15296339\/furman-and-clemson-university-professors-to-lead-summer-institute-on-black-history\">Diverse Issues in Higher Education<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The institute will be led by the Furman&#8217;s Hecimovich and Kaniqua Robinson, an assistant professor of anthropology, as well as Clemson English professors Susanna Ashton and Rhondda Thomas. It will take place in the summer of 2023.<\/p>\n<p>A subscription may be required to view the complete article.
