She photographs ordinary subjects and non-monumental spaces that \u201cpossess a kind of wilted beauty \u2013 bridges to nowhere, stained museum walls that compete with the displayed art, a still-life comprised of indispensable toiletries, a ripe watermelon that\u2019s fallen from grace, and flowers and plants both real and plastic\u00a0\u2013 that\u00a0 bring vitality to an otherwise unremarkable scene.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bright has had solo exhibitions at venues including the Abrons Art\u00a0 Center in New York, The Society for Contemporary Photography in Kansas City, Washington University School of Art in St. Louis, the University of California, Berkeley extension, and the University of Alabama. She has been a part of numerous group exhibitions that have been juried by individuals such as Anne Wilkes Tucker, Rod Slemmons, Ellen Handy, Kathleen Ewing, Catherine Ware, Howard Greenberg and Chan Chao.<\/p>\n<p>Bright received her M.F.A. from the University of Texas at Austin in 1999 where she studied with Mark Goodman, Lawrence McFarland, and Kate Breakey.
