Furman has appeared in the guide every year since the inaugural edition was released 30 years ago.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_19281\" style=\"width: 360px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-19281\" class=\"size-full wp-image-19281 lazyload\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.furman.edu\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/218\/2022\/08\/Princeton-Review-Best-388-Colleges-High-Res-2023-350.jpg\" alt=\"book cover, The Princeton Review's 388 Best Colleges\" width=\"350\" height=\"463\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml;base64,PHN2ZyB3aWR0aD0iMSIgaGVpZ2h0PSIxIiB4bWxucz0iaHR0cDovL3d3dy53My5vcmcvMjAwMC9zdmciPjwvc3ZnPg==\" style=\"--smush-placeholder-width: 350px; --smush-placeholder-aspect-ratio: 350\/463;\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-19281\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Furman has appeared in the guide every year since the 1992 inaugural edition.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Only about 14 percent of the nation\u2019s 2,700 four-year colleges are profiled in the book. The Princeton Review chose the colleges based on data it annually collects from surveys of 2,000 college administrators about their institutions\u2019 academic offerings. The company also reviews data from its surveys of students attending the schools.<\/p>\n<p>The Princeton Review does not rank the colleges in the guide hierarchically, from one to 388. However, the book offers 50 categories of ranking lists, naming the top 25 schools in each category. The ranking lists are tallied based on The Princeton Review\u2019s surveys of 160,000 students at the 388 schools profiled. Furman received a top-25 rank on several of those lists:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>#5 Most Politically Active Students<\/li>\n<li>#11 Most Accessible Professors<\/li>\n<li>#11 Best College Theater<\/li>\n<li>#14 Most Active Student Government<\/li>\n<li>#16 Best Quality of Life<\/li>\n<li>#17 Best Classroom Experience<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In Furman\u2019s profile, students commented on academics, student life and the overall student body. Undergraduates remarked on Furman\u2019s efforts to recruit a more diverse student body. They noted that Furman attracts students who \u201care very motivated and driven to perform well academically.\u201d And while aspirations tend to be high for students, intense competition among students is not. One student said that undergraduates \u201cpush each other to be the best people possible.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this year, Furman appeared in The Princeton Review\u2019s \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.furman.edu\/news\/2022\/05\/04\/furman-named-a-best-value-college-for-2022-by-the-princeton-review\/\">Best Value Colleges<\/a>,\u201d a compilation of 209 institutions earning the highest return-on-investment ratings.
