Daniel Memorial Chapel on the Furman campus.<\/p>\n<p>The recital is open to the public and is part of the University\u2019s 2013-14 Hartness Organ Series and Sound Quality Concert Series. Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and $5 for students.<\/p>\n<p>Pajan\u2019s recital will be performed on the 42-stop Hartness Organ, Opus 121 of C. B. Fisk Organbuilders, Gloucester, Mass. Pajan\u2019s program will include works for solo organ by Bruhns, Mendelssohn, Guilmant, Howells and Rogg. In addition, he will be joined by Furman faculty member and mezzo-soprano Tamara Matthews for a performance of two songs from Joseph Rheinberger\u2019s \u201cVier elegische Ges\u00e4nge,\u201d opus 128.<\/p>\n<p>Pajan is a 2008 graduate of Furman, where he majored in Organ Performance. Currently a doctoral student at the University of Oklahoma&#8217;s American Organ Institute, he received his Master of Music degree in Organ Performance from Yale University School of Music, where he was one of a small group of students across the nation to gain admittance to the highly selective program.<\/p>\n<p>Last November, Pajan was named first prize winner of the 2013 Ruth and Clarence Mader National Organ Playing Competition in Claremont, Calif. In June last year, he received the Firmin Swinnen Second Prize at the Longwood Gardens (Penn.) International Organ Playing Competition. He had previously been awarded first prize in the 2009 Albert Schweitzer Organ Competition USA.<\/p>\n<p>Pajan has performed across the United States as a recitalist, and completed two concert tours of Germany in 2011 and 2012. His performances have been featured on American Public Media&#8217;s \u201cPipedreams\u201d radio program. An active and enthusiastic church musician, he serves as Director of Music and Organist at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church in Norman, Okla.<\/p>\n<p>For more information about the recital, contact the Furman University Music Department at 864-294-2086.
