Aaron Simmons, an assistant professor of philosophy at Furman University, has written a new book about God, ethics and politics.<\/p>\n<p>In <em>God and the Other: Ethics and Politics after the Theological Turn<\/em>, Simmons proposes a model of postmodern religious belief and ethical existence. The book is published by Indiana University Press.<\/p>\n<p>In his book, Simmons builds on the work of such postmodern philosophers as S\u00f8ren Kierkegaard, Emmanuel Levinas, Jean-Luc Marion and Jacques Derrida, among others, and suggests how Continental philosophy of religion can intersect with political philosophy, environmental philosophy and theories of knowledge.<\/p>\n<p>Jeffrey Dudiak of Kings University College in Edmonton says that Simmons \u201ccombines solid research with thoughtful consideration of the issues\u201d and calls the book \u201cinformative, challenging and provocative.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Simmons joined the Furman faculty in 2011.
