Furman tied for first place at the Tenth<sup>\u00a0<\/sup>Annual Great American Mock Trial Invitational (GAMTI) held Nov. 2-3 in Washington, D.C. and hosted by the University of Virginia.<\/p>\n<p>In the tournament that UGA Mock Trial described as \u201cthe most competitive field yet,\u201d Furman\u2019s 10-member team did not drop a single ballot. Furman mockers out-performed 25 teams including those from Harvard, Rhodes College, Vanderbilt and UCLA, among others.<\/p>\n<p>The winning Furman team members are:<\/p>\n<p>Chelsey \u00a0Dawson, \u201817 (Media, Pa.)<\/p>\n<p>DeGroote, \u201814 (Lyman S.C.)<\/p>\n<p>Maddison Hall, \u201814 (Fort Mill, S.C.)<\/p>\n<p>Dustin Magaziner, \u201815 (Cherry Hill, N.J.)<\/p>\n<p>Katherine Martin, \u201814 (Snellville, Ga.)<\/p>\n<p>Andrew Mueller, \u201814\u00a0(Tinley Park, Ill.)<\/p>\n<p>Chris Pogue, \u201815 (East Greenwich,\u00a0R.I.)<\/p>\n<p>Julia Reynolds, \u201817 (Concord, Mass.)<\/p>\n<p>Gitu Tandon, \u201817 (Tallahassee, Fla.)<\/p>\n<p>Nathan Thompson, \u201816 (Arlington, Va.)<\/p>\n<p>At GAMTI, Furman tied for first place with the University of Virginia A and B teams and Rhodes College. This result marks Furman\u2019s first team award at GAMTI since 2009. The 18-team field at GAMTI included Harvard, Yale, Rhodes College, UCLA, UC-Berkeley, Northwestern University, and Duke among other top-tier universities.<\/p>\n<p>Katherine Martin received an award for Outstanding Attorney, scoring highest among all attorneys. Dustin Magaziner also won an Outstanding Attorney award, and Chris Pogue received an Outstanding Witness award.<\/p>\n<p>The Furman mock trial teams were coached by graduates Lindsay Builder (2007) and D.
