Catholic Campus Ministries at Furman will host an interfaith forum on Tuesday, Nov. 8 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at University Center, Watkins Room on the Furman campus.<\/p>\n
\u201cGod? Forum\u201d is free and open to Furman faculty, staff and students, along with invited clergy representing a range of belief systems. The forum is held in conjunction with Furman\u2019s \u201cFrom the Ground Up\u201d series, an initiative spearheaded by the Office of the Chaplain to promote interfaith conversations on campus.<\/p>\n
The purpose of the forum is to foster a deeper level of religious harmony and tolerance within the Furman community. With a number of stations set up, the forum encourages attendees to have free and open discussions with each other and among clergy of myriad faiths. Christianity, Islam and Judaism are represented in the forum, with plans to include Buddhist, Greek Orthodox, Hindu and Unitarian Universalist delegates.<\/p>\n
Campus ministers Andy Casto-Waters (Presbyterian), Kris Litman-Koon (Lutheran), and Fr. Patrick Tuttle (Catholic) are envoys for Christianity. Dr. Kadir Yildrim represents Islam, and Rabbis Julie Kozlow and Marc Wilson speak for Judaism.<\/p>\n
Last year, CCM\u2019s God? Forum received Furman\u2019s Boundary-Breaker Program of the Year award presented to the organization sponsoring the most innovative, creative and groundbreaking project that establishes a new standard in Furman’s student life.<\/p>\n
