All shows are performed in the Furman Playhouse on campus.<\/p>\n<p>Tickets are $16 general admission, $13 for seniors, and $8 for students. \u00a0Parental guidance is suggested.<\/p>\n<p>Set on an elite southern college\u00a0campus,<b><i> <\/i><\/b>\u201cPomp and Circumstance\u201d follows a random\u00a0group of students who are one semester from graduation and comedically preparing for their post-school\u00a0lives. They meet three times a week for their senior seminar, a course called \u201cLife and Literature,\u201d but no syllabus can prepare them for what\u2019s about to happen.<\/p>\n<p>Cook, a 1991 Furman graduate who is on campus this fall as the Duke Endowment Artist-in-Residence, is best known for his plays\u00a0\u201cSake with the Haiku Geisha\u201d\u00a0and\u00a0\u201cFate\u2019s Imagination,\u201d both of which premiered off-Broadway to critical acclaim. His one-act drama\u00a0\u201cSushi &amp; Scones\u201d won the Southeastern Playwrights Conference Award for best play and received international exposure when broadcast by the BBC as a radio drama.<\/p>\n<p>His southern plays (\u201cSouthern Discomfort\u201d and \u201cThird Finger, Left Hand\u201d) have been produced in New York and regionally, and his works for high school students have been produced in practically every state in the U.S. as well as in Europe and Australia.<\/p>\n<p>A native of South Carolina, Cook now resides in New York City, where he is resident playwright of Gotham Stage Company and a member of the Dramatists Guild.<\/p>\n<p>While Cook serves as playwright-in-residence for \u201cPomp and Circumstance,\u201d Furman theatre arts professor Jay Oney directs.
