Is it possible to provide better care at a lower cost?<\/p>\n<p>Some of the state\u2019s top health experts will discuss that issue when the Furman University series, \u201cStraight Talk: Healthcare Reform in SC,\u201d continues Wednesday, July 31, 6:30-8:30 p.m. in Shaw Hall of Younts Conference Center on the Furman campus. Cost for the session is $15.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRationing Healthcare Rationally\u201d is the third presentation of a four-part series that examines the various facets of the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare. The series is sponsored by Furman\u2019s Riley Institute and the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute.<\/p>\n<p>The July 31 program will feature <em>Jim Deyling<\/em>, president, Private Business, Blue Cross Blue Shield of South Carolina (<a href=\"http:\/\/riley.furman.edu\/riley\/about-speakers#Deyling\">bio<\/a>); <em>Mark Nantz<\/em>, CEO, Bon Secours St. Francis Health System (<a href=\"http:\/\/riley.furman.edu\/riley\/about-speakers#Nantz\">bio<\/a>); <em>Lee Pearson<\/em>, DrPH, director of operations, SC Institute of Medicine and Public Health (<a href=\"http:\/\/riley.furman.edu\/riley\/about-speakers#Pearson\">bio<\/a>); <em>Carmela Epright<\/em>, Ph.D., professor of philosophy, Furman University, and clinical ethics consultant (<a href=\"http:\/\/riley.furman.edu\/riley\/about-speakers#Epright\">bio<\/a>); <em>Armin Meyer<\/em>, M.D., Pulmonary Disease Associates and associate professor, Greenville University Medical Center (<a href=\"http:\/\/riley.furman.edu\/riley\/about-speakers#Meyer\">bio<\/a>); and <em>John Ropp<\/em>, M.D., chair, SC Coalition for Care of the Seriously Ill (<a href=\"http:\/\/riley.furman.edu\/riley\/about-speakers#Ropp\">bio<\/a>).
