The seminar offers professional development in all areas relevant to the teaching of German Studies including German language, literature, culture, professional education, politics and higher education.<\/p>\n<p>Kilstofte\u2019s nine-month Fulbright Scholar grant will take him to Norway where he will be a research scholar at the University of Oslo\u2019s Centre for Ibsen Studies. There he will compose a full-length opera based on Henrik Ibsen\u2019s \u201cBrand,\u201d the story of a passionate, well-intentioned priest brought to ruin by his uncompromising beliefs.<\/p>\n<p>Culberson, who joined the Furman faculty in 2005, teaches German and French.\u00a0 Kilstofte teaches composition and music theory, and has been at Furman since 1992.<\/p>\n<p>The Fulbright Program is the flagship international educational exchange program sponsored by the U.S. government and is designed to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries.<\/p>\n<p>Recipients of Fulbright grants are selected on the basis of academic or professional achievement, as well as demonstrated leadership potential in their fields. The program operates in more than 155 countries worldwide.<\/p>\n<p>Since its establishment in 1946 under legislation introduced by the late U.S. Senator J.
