Master of Arts in Teaching<\/a> programs, delivered the Commencement address, encouraging the soon-to-be graduates to avoid being pigeonholed and to stretch themselves personally and professionally.<\/p>\nThis was not the end of their educational journey, Lipscomb told the students.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhile a degree, either a master\u2019s or a bachelor\u2019s, is for sure a big accomplishment, there\u2019s more learning that you will continue to do throughout your life,\u201d he said. \u201cYou will continue to learn, whether from a book, a newspaper, your peers, professional development, a podcast, a YouTube tutorial or even a TikTok video. Continue to expand your expertise.\u201d<\/p>\n
After each student walked across the platform, diplomas in hand, and shook hands with University President Elizabeth Davis and Interim Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost Beth Pontari, Davis had some parting words for the new graduates.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m excited for what comes next for you,\u201d she said. \u201cThat\u2019s because I believe Furman and your experience has prepared you well for successful and meaningful lives. This commencement really is just the beginning of a lifetime of learning. \u2026 We send you forth with great pride and affection. May you continue to thrive, prosper and grow.\u201d<\/p>\n
A reception for graduates and their guests followed the ceremony.<\/p>\n
