Collier\u2019s address is the 2013 Hesburgh Alumni Lecture and is part of Furman\u2019s Cultural Life Program. It is sponsored by Furman\u2019s Office of the Chaplains in partnership with the Notre Dame Club of the Western Carolinas.<\/p>\n<p>In his address, Collier will trace American education since the turn of the 20th century, examining changes and behaviors leading to what some have described as \u201cthe greatest generation.&#8221; He explores the lessons we can learn from schools who trained humans to go to the moon, write novels and plays, and create television programming.
