They\u2019re the energy driving our commitment and they\u2019re the ones who make it all happen.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Through Heller Service Corps, Furman students have:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>invested time with under resourced children at the Frazee Dream Center<\/li>\n<li>assisted first-generation college applicants through SC Can Go<\/li>\n<li>served as camp counselors for special needs kids at Camp Spearhead<\/li>\n<li>volunteered time at Greenville Humane Society<\/li>\n<li>mentored children in foster care through Specialized Alternatives for Families and Youth<\/li>\n<li>served in two free medical clinics in the area<\/li>\n<li>led school programs for at-risk\u00a0 youth (Ladies of Distinction and Men of Distinction)<\/li>\n<li>helped build houses in the Upstate through Habitat for Humanity.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In addition to working directly with these agencies, each year student volunteers with Heller Service Corps hold a Fall Festival for area school children, an Exceptional Adults Valentine\u2019s Dance for community members with special needs, and lead a Holiday Giving Tree project engaging Furman students in giving to children of low-income households.<\/p>\n<p>More information about Furman\u2019s Heller Service Corps can be found at <a href=\"http:\/\/hellerservicecorps.org\/index.php\">here<\/a>, or contact Nancy Cooper at 864-294-2900.
