Janet Kwami<\/p><\/div>\n

GREENVILLE, S.C.\u2014Furman University’s\u00a0fall High Noon at FYI lecture series is currently underway and\u00a0meets each Wednesday at noon in the FYI center in downtown Greenville.<\/p>\n

The fall schedule\u00a0consists of eight consecutive lectures\u00a0by Furman professors that will run through Nov. 9.<\/p>\n

All FYI lectures begin at noon and last approximately one hour.\u00a0 The FYI center is located at 612 South Main Street across from Mary\u2019s Restaurant at Falls Cottage.<\/p>\n

Recent citizen uprisings such as the Arab spring and London riots have spurred debate over the role of social media in mobilizing people for different causes, and freedom of expression in a digital age.\u00a0\u00a0 Dr. Kwami will discuss the use of social media tools such as Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and IM in these recent events and the stakes of social appropriation of information and communication technologies in changing contemporary societies.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
