The Furman University Department of Music will present a fall concert featuring the Furman Symphonic Band Friday, Nov. 7, at 7:30 p.m. in McAlister Auditorium on campus. The event is free and open to the public. A $5 suggested donation at the door will be accepted.

David Stanley, Department of Music.
The Furman University Symphonic Band’s Fall Concert also features musicians from Eastside High School Band. Furman’s portion of the program includes music of “light” by two contemporary composers: “Bright Shadow Fanfare” by Nicole Piunno, and “Urban Light” by James David. The wind band standard “Folk Song Suite” by Ralph Vaughan Williams anchors the program. Both ensembles are presented as a part of Furman’s annual Honor Band Symposium, which brings more than 200 high school students from around the region to campus for two days of musical experiences. The event is sponsored by faculty members Sue Samuels and David Stanley.
