Bob Richey goes on record about decision to remain at Furman
Bob Richey speaks to WYFF News 4’s Marc Whiteman.
Marc Whiteman of WYFF News 4 spoke to Furman’s Bob Richey about his decision to remain as Men’s Basketball head coach. In a video posted by Whiteman on Facebook, Richey applauded the leadership of the Board of Trustees, President Elizabeth Davis, and Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Jason Donnelly for the program’s success. Richey signed a contract extension from the university and noted that money was not the overriding factor in his decision to stay. “We have something different here,” Richey said. “We have something unique here.”
Richey is the first head coach to win the SoCon Tournament and not depart for a “power conference” post since 2018. Read the news release by Furman Athletics for more information about Richey’s contract extension.
