Coastal legal issues are focus of climate symposium
An article in the Charleston City Paper highlights the 15th annual Law & Society Symposium, sponsored by the Charleston School of Law and the Riley Institute at Furman University. The free event is set for Friday, Feb. 24, 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. in the auditorium of Charleston Museum and is expected to draw about 200 attendees.
“The symposium presents a unique opportunity to hear from experts about a pressing series of legal issues,” said Larry Cunningham, law school provost and dean. “Each year, I am grateful for our collaboration with the Riley Institute on this important event.”
Phyllis A. Cuttino, a 1988 Furman University political science and history alumna and longtime climate and clean energy advocate, will keynote the symposium. She is president and CEO of D.C.-based The Climate Reality Project, which was launched by former U.S. Vice President Al Gore in 2005.
