Furman University stages classic favorite ‘Pirates of Penzance’
The Sarah Reese Lyric Theatre and its production of “The Pirates of Penzance” scores a promo from Greenville Journal. Journalist Paul Hyde spoke to Furman University’s Grant Knox, associate professor of voice and director of the Sarah Reese Lyric Theatre. “It’s hilarious, super-clever,” he said. “It’s a great pairing of beautiful music with really witty lyrics. That’s the charm of Gilbert and Sullivan.” The production features an all-student cast of 35 performers who take the stage at McAlister Auditorium Friday, Feb. 17, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 19, at 2 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
