Furman University’s Danielle Vinson, professor of politics and international affairs, was a guest on FOX Carolina’s morning show on Nov. 9. She answered questions about the tight Senate race in Georgia, early voting, and the “red wave” anticipated by Republicans. About the latter, she said, “Structurally, this was supposed to be a bad year for Democrats.” Vinson cited economic woes that voters would attribute to the party represented in the White House. Vinson also noted that the abortion issue likely played a bigger role in voter turnout than the Republican Party expected.

Vinson is a 1989 Furman alumna (political science and English). She received her master’s and doctorate in political science from Duke University.
