In an early voting season that is seeing greater turnout across the state than in the June primaries, Devyani Chhetri of The Greenville News spoke to several Upstate residents about their motivation to cast ballots. Furman University students Ellie Howard ’25 and Ella Filippo ’26 were among those interviewed. Howard, a sociology major who will be voting in the Georgia elections, noted her concern over education, police and abortion issues. Filippo, whose hometown is Clemson, South Carolina, said she’s leaning toward Cunningham for governor, yet doesn’t agree with all his policies.
