Furman University students gain insight into fishing activities in Prampram

Janet Kwami, associate professor of communication studies at Furman University, accompanied about a dozen students to West Africa’s Ghana for a three-week May Experience course, “Media and Culture in Ghana.” Part of the excursion included the town of Prampram, where students learned about the culture surrounding the local fishing industry. They also toured Fort Vernon, which was built in 1742 to facilitate the slave trade along the coast. Learn more in B&FT Online.
