U.S. will feel economic impacts from Russian-Ukraine conflict

The United States may not be a huge importer of Russian oil, corn and wheat, but we still may feel the impact of economic sanctions at the pump and in grocery stores, said Furman University’s Jason Jones, an economics professor.

“They are a major exporter, yes, but not to the United States,” Jones told a WYFF News4 reporter. “But at the same time, when you have any restriction in a world economy across a major source, in this case food – wheat and corn, it’s going to raise prices everywhere.”

Likewise, Jones says Russia isn’t a major energy supplier to the U.S., but the U.S. will feel the impacts from global concerns over energy supply.
