Chandra Dillard featured in story about community

In an article about the resilience of Nicholtown, a community about a mile and a half from Greenville’s downtown, The Greenville Journal featured Chandra Dillard, director of community relations for Furman who also represents the 23rd District in the South Carolina House of Representatives. The community was settled by freed Black slaves in the 1870s. It became a thriving community of laborers and professionals. Dillard lives in the home built by her grandfather. Now, Nicholtown is experiencing growth, with affordable housing developments and residents like Dillard reinvigorating the neighborhoods.
