Education as a bridge to the future

Last updated January 31, 2022

By Tina Underwood

In a piece she contributed to Greenville Business Magazine, Elizabeth Davis, president of Furman University, lays out what it takes to ensure the Upstate region “continues to grow and progress in ways that are robust and economically, socially and civically vibrant.” She says high levels of engagement from three integral sectors must be in place: civic leadership, corporate investment and higher education.

Davis highlights the four institutes at Furman – The Riley Institute, Hill Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Institute for the Advancement of Community Health, and Shi Institute for Sustainable Communities – and how they contribute to the overall well-being and vibrancy of the community. See pages 33-34 of the magazine for more.
