Furman to resume normal operations on Thursday

Furman University will resume normal operations on Thursday, Jan. 20, with possible exceptions for small dining venues. The Dining Hall will have normal hours.

Classes will be in person, and all employees should return to work in person unless scheduled to work remotely.

The university and Furman Police will continue to monitor the weather and campus conditions and provide updates as needed. Furman will have a modified schedule Jan. 19 due to continued icy conditions

Furman University will operate under a modified schedule Wednesday, Jan. 19, due to continued icy conditions in the Upstate region, and out of an abundance of caution for the safety of our students, faculty and staff.

The university will operate remotely until 11 a.m. In-person classes will start at 11:30 a.m. Faculty should contact their students to let them know about plans for the 8:30, 9:30 and 10:30 class periods.

Employees who can work remotely before 11 a.m. are asked to do so unless otherwise directed by supervisors. Employees who have questions may contact Human Resources at 864-294-2217 or humanresources@furman.edu.

Please note the following hours for campus services on Wednesday:

  • The Earle Student Health Center will be open for in-person visits 8 a.m.-5:30 p.m.
  • The Employee Health Clinic will be closed.
  • The Dining Hall will be open for students 9:30 a.m.-9 p.m. The PDen will be open 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Bread and Bowl and the Library Café will be closed.
  • The Duke Library will be open 11 a.m.-1 a.m. Branches will be closed.
  • P2X will be open 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
  • Barnes & Noble will be open 11 a.m.-5 p.m.
  • The PAC will be open 6:30 a.m.-10 p.m.
  • The DHEC testing site on campus will be open 11 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

For the safety of our students and employees, Furman University will operate remotely Tuesday, Jan. 18, due to the potential for icy conditions on roads and walkways that may make traveling to and around campus hazardous.

Faculty should contact their students to let them know about plans for virtual classes. Employees should work remotely if possible and not report to work in person unless notified by their supervisors. Employees who have questions may contact Human Resources at 864-294-2217 or humanresources@furman.edu.

Please note the following hours for campus services on Tuesday:

  • The Earle Student Health Center will be open for in-person visits 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m.
  • The Employee Health Clinic will be closed.
  • The Dining Hall will be open for students 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m. and 5-8 p.m. The DH will be the only dining option open.
  • The Duke Library will be open noon-1 a.m. Branches will be closed.
  • P2X will be open 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
  • Barnes & Noble will be open 11 a.m.-5 p.m.
  • The PAC will be open 6:30 a.m.-10 p.m.
  • The Trone Student Center’s common areas will be accessible to students only via their Furman ID. All in-person meetings in Trone should be shifted to virtual or rescheduled.
  • The DHEC testing site on campus will make the decision whether to close or not tomorrow morning. It is recommended to call 803-670-2998 before coming to the site tomorrow.
