Furman Monitoring Winter Storm

Furman University is monitoring a winter storm that is expected to bring snow and a wintry mix to the Greenville area beginning Saturday through Sunday. At this time, the university plans to remain open, though some events may be canceled and services may be limited. The university will notify the campus of any closures or delays.

According to the National Weather Service, heavy mixed precipitation is expected in the Upstate, with up to 7 inches of snow and sleet, and some ice and freezing rain. Students, faculty and staff should use caution and be aware of your surroundings when driving (avoid if possible) and walking on campus. High winds may cause downed trees and power outages.

The university and Furman Police will continue to monitor the storm throughout the weekend and provide updates as needed. Prepare for potential closure or delay
Students should prepare now for potential closures or delays on campus and in the community. Ensure you have necessary medications and food (the Dining Hall will remain open). Be strategic about traveling away from campus as your ability to return could be delayed. Employees with laptops are encouraged to take them home today in the event of a Tuesday closure or delay, so meetings and work can be accomplished remotely, if feasible. Do not take home other equipment, particularly desktops.

Adjusted library hours
In preparation for the inclement weather, the Duke Library will be open from 1-5 p.m. Sunday and the branch libraries will be closed.

PAC will remain open
The PAC will remain open to students, except in the event of a power outage.
