Greenville women lack support to fight ‘pressure’ of traditional gender roles

In The Greenville News, Furman University’s Sarah Adeyinka-Skold, an assistant professor of sociology, weighs in on the subject of gender roles in traditional American households. She told journalist Krys Merryman that while the population of working mothers will continue to grow, the social, economic and political infrastructure in the U.S. is lacking when it comes to supporting them. She cites the need for more maternity leave, flexible schedules and higher “breadwinning” wages.
