Furman, Greenville Drive, city partner for entrepreneur night

As the City of Greenville launches its national economic development initiative on Sept. 2, Furman University ‘s Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, in partnership with the city and the Greenville Drive, will host a celebration of local innovators and business leaders in “Innovation and Entrepreneurship Night at Fluor Field.” In addition to enjoying the ballgame between the Greenville Drive and Asheville Tourists, spectators can mingle with Upstate founders and check out exhibits from organizations like NEXT, Village Launch and others.

The Post and Courier’s Stephanie Mirah spoke to Furman’s Anthony Herrera, chief innovation officer, who said, “It takes a village,” when it comes to creating and fostering a community of entrepreneurs and innovators. While entrepreneurs receive support from academic, civic and corporate partners, community members are also vital to the business ecosystem as they act as customers and networkers, Herrera added.
