FURMAN LISTED IN 2021 PRINCETON REVIEW’S ‘BEST COLLEGES’ GUIDE
Furman University has moved up in rank in several categories listed by The Princeton Review, such as the accessibility of professors and the classroom experience, according to the 2021 edition of the company’s guide, “The Best 386 Colleges.”
Furman rose from No. 4 last year to No. 2 for “Most Politically Active Students” and from No. 17 to No. 12 for “Most Accessible Professors.” The university also improved from No. 17 to No. 16 in the category of “Most Active Student Government.” This year Furman ranked No. 10 for “Best Classroom Experience” and No. 12 for “Best College Theater.”
Furman is among about 14% of America’s 2,800 four-year colleges to be profiled in the book. Institutions are chosen based on data the company annually collects from administrators at hundreds of colleges about their institutions’ academic offerings. The Princeton Review also considers data it gathers from its surveys of college students who rate and report on various aspects of their campus and community experiences.
“We salute Furman for its outstanding academics, and we are truly pleased to recommend it to prospective applicants searching for their personal ‘best-fit’ college,” said Robert Franek, The Princeton Review’s editor-in-chief and lead author of “The Best 386 Colleges.”
The Princeton Review does not rank the colleges in the book from 1 to 386. Instead, it reports 62 ranking lists of top 20 schools in the book in various categories important to prospective applicants and their parents. Categories of ranking lists range from “Best Career Services” and “Great Financial Aid” to “Professors Get High Marks.” The rankings in this edition are based on the company’s surveys of 143,000 students at the 386 schools in the book, which is available online.
In February of this year, for the second straight year, Furman ranked ninth in The Princeton Review’s list of “The Top 25 Best Schools for Making an Impact” in its “Best Value Colleges” guide, which includes the country’s top 200 universities with the best return on investment.
