One of the draws for incoming Furman students is small class sizes. Now with Furman’s phased move-in, those class sizes, at least for now, will be even smaller. Classes begin Aug. 18 for all, but freshmen and seniors will arrive on campus first, followed by second and third year students in September. The plan aims to reduce density in classrooms, hallways and in the dining hall, where 1,000 seats have been pared down to 423. Grace Runkel of FOX Carolina spoke to Furman’s Connie Carson, vice president for student life. “The silver lining for me is that students are going to college, they are excited to be going to college, and we’re excited to have them,” she said.
